How much does a neurofeedback device cost?

How much does a neurofeedback device cost?

An analysis of the 7 most influential neurofeedback equipments on the market

When this question comes to your mind and you take a look at Google, it is difficult to find a comprehensive answer. The most common thing is to land on the website of a brand (or a professional that recommends a single brand). In this post I’m sharing the result of the time that I spent analyzing the price of the 7 most influential devices in the field of neurofeedback.

When you take a look at Google it is not easy to find a comprehensive answer.

It is not easy to find a comprehensive answer.

Yes, but … how much does it cost?

The first thing I answer when someone is asking “how much does a neurofeedback device cost?” is “what kind of neurofeedback equipment are you looking for?” There are many ways to answer this question depending on whether you are looking for biofeedback, traditional neurofeedback, dynamic neurofeedback, heart rate variability, multichannel neurofeedback, z-score neurofeedback, s-LORETA neurofeedback, slow cortical potentials (SCP) neurofeedback, infra-low frequencies (ILF)  neurofeedback…

The price of a equipment depends a lot on the type of neurofeedback you are looking for.

The price of a equipment depends a lot on the type of neurofeedback you are looking for.

  • On the one hand, there are neurofeedback equipments, that I call open systems, which allow to combine or complement traditional neurofeeback with other developments such as HRV biofeedback, SCP, z-score, s-LORETA, Neuroguide, etc.

  • On the other hand, there are other types of neurofeedback that are exclusive to a brand, such as EEG-info that trains ILF, Neuroptimal and its dynamic neurofeedback, or LENS that sends back a small electromagnetic pulse, which cannot be applied from another equipment.

What do I have to buy?

A neurofeedback device involves at least the investment in the following components:

EEG Amplifier and Supplies

Sensors and Electrodes

Software and Games

Training Courses

As a general rule, in all cases, you must also acquire a PC that meets the requirements to run the specific neurofeedback equipment. In addition, in most systems, the patient needs a comfortable armchair and a second monitor or a TV screen for training.

Who are the big 7?

For me, the 7 most influential equipments in the world of neurofeedback are, in alphabetical order: BrainMaster, EEG-Info, LENS, MindMedia, Neurofield, Thought Technologies and Zengar.
